Alex (Gabe Nevins) é um jovem de 16 anos, que namora Jennifer (Taylor Momsen) e tem Jared (Jake Miller) como seu melhor amigo. Um dia ele e Jared vão a Paranoid Park, o paraíso dos skatistas. Eles combinam de voltar ao local no sábado à noite mas, de última hora, Jared precisa viajar. Alex decide ir ao local sozinho e lá conhece outros skatistas. Ele aceita o convite de um deles para subir em um trem de carga, sem imaginar o problema que teria.
